Tips for Activities
Make sure to walk around, and ask every one questions.
For round-table open discussions, give every kid a chance to speak. These tend to take longer, but they are high quality lessons and worth every minute.
Make sure the kids are still keeping inside voices, even when they are called on to speak.
Every kid takes a while to come out of their shell. Be patient, and understand. These activities were created with the aim to build community, so they will get there!
Make sure each activity is given a week after it's corresponding slideshow was presented, to ensure they retain what they learned.
Dont be afraid to add your own twist! You can add your own spin at the questions, and add some fun rules to the games.
And again: SIGN UP AS A VOLUNTEER. The link to the sign up page is here. By signing up, you get 3 hours a WEEK for presenting activities and slideshows. There are no team meetings, and it is reliant on YOUR own time. You do not have to present every week, just log hours for the weeks you do. This is a non-restrictive, and fun way to get your volunteer hours (+ completely in your own space and time!)
